Unit Question: How can you use technology knowledge to power up MMS?
Assignment for March 11-18
March 11-14 - Warm-Up: Create a warm-up slide that includes a Smart-Art graphic of some of the Challenges you face and how you overcome them (this is in honor of Challenge day next week). Examples of challenges: peer pressure, balancing activities with school work, physical challenges, etc. Use your imagination and be creative.
- Class assignment - Use class time to work with your group on preparing your presentation on a PowerPoint Menu. Remember the requirements for the presentation:
Groups of 3 or 4 students will each choose a menu in PowerPoint to present to the class. Your presentation should include the following: - Explain why this menu is important for users of PowerPoint - Give an overview of the features of the menu - Show your top 3 favorite features of the menu - Prepare an activity for the class to do during your demonstration - Note: this is different from our presentations on MS Word. You may not do a printed activity (like a crossword puzzle or word search). You must have the audience do something in PowerPoint that relates to the menu you are presenting (perhaps have them make changes to their "My Life" powerpoint) - Presentation should be about 20 minutes long - Mrs. Weiss will evaluate the effectiveness of your presentation. Here is the rubric:
Print memo 3 on page 200 and have a classmate check it over for the formatting. Then type memo 4 on page 200, also print it and have a classmate check it over.
Assignment (A Day students Feb 16 - 18, B Day students Feb 21)
In today's assignment, you will select 5 graphics from the Microsoft Object Gallery, write a short story incorporating the selected graphics and then saving your file in your Documents with the name "Iconic Story". Requirements: You must replace at least 20 words in your story with graphics, and you will loose points for spelling and grammar errors (Text language is not acceptable).
Time for Extra Credit?
When done, work on a Motivational Poster for Cerebral Palsy Awareness. Decide on a picture - there are many copyright free images at Creative Commons - just enter a key word to search on such as wheelchair or disability. Then find a motivational quote either regarding success, disability, leadership, risk taking, etc. Now you're ready to create your poster! Go to the website BigHugeLabs.com and choose the motivational poster option. Here are detailed instructions:
